Accredited medical schools in Paraguay, by city
According to the ANEAES report of 29 December 2025, published by Paraguay's Ministry of Health and CONAREM, 32 medicine programs (counted by campus) were evaluated in the country, and 25 of them are accredited. Another 7 programs enrolled in the 2025 call.
Below is the full table, grouped by the cities where most international students go (Ciudad del Este, Pedro Juan Caballero and Encarnación), with no opinion of ours on quality: only what the official document says, with a link to it.

How to read each program's status
Terms follow the official table. ANEAES is the agency that evaluates and accredits higher-education programs in Paraguay.
- Accredited
- The program holds an ANEAES accreditation resolution, under the National Model, Mercosur's ARCU-SUR system, or both.
- Diagnostic evaluation
- "Fines diagnósticos" in the original: an evaluation for diagnostic purposes, which is not accreditation.
- Accreditation postponed
- "Postergada" in the original: the accreditation decision was postponed.
- Not accredited
- The program was evaluated and did not obtain accreditation.
- Under re-evaluation
- Marked with an asterisk in the table: accredited and "currently under evaluation".

What accreditation means (and what it doesn't)
In Paraguay, accreditation matters for medical residency: CONAREM, the national medical residency commission, uses it to define which graduates count as coming from an "accredited program".
Outside Paraguay, each country sets its own rules for recognizing foreign medical degrees. In Brazil, for instance, that's the Revalida exam run by INEP, which requires a degree from an institution recognized in its home country.
Status changes over time. In July 2026 ANEAES reported 467 applications analyzed for its 2026 call, 375 admitted (Última Hora, 7 Jul 2026). This page reflects the 29 Dec 2025 report; we'll update the table and date when a new one is out.
